Antenna - PCB Etched

I don't need a long range.  100 meters will be plenty. If so,

Has anyone tried PCB antenna, which is just copper etched onto the PCB?  Shape? Width? Length?

How about 1/8 of wave length or 1/16 of wave length?

Because in my environment, it is difficult to keep all antenna perpendicular to each other.
