MightyBoost after Raspberry Pi shut down

Out of curiosity, if I were to hook a MightyBoost up to a Ras Pi (and a battery of course) and were to shut down the Pi, would the battery continue to charge if power were still hooked to the MightyBoost?

Also, in the same scenario, would the battery continue to try to discharge towards the Pi?

The battery is always charged when power is available, and is discharged only when power is NOT available. So when power is available the battery charges until full and waits until power is lost to kick in and take over.
