Changing charging end voltage

I installed 2 18650 Li-Ion Batteries in parallel unter the Mightyboost RasPi stack to prevent a power failure crashing my SSD. This should last about 2-3hrs before it shuts down the RasPi. Actually I do not need such a long time.
My question is now, is it possible to reduce the charging end voltage in order to prevent the Li-Ion batteries from being fully charged all the time? I think in terms of lifetime it would be much better to keep them on storage level which would give still enough time to cover 99% of all power outages here while probably doubling lifetime of the batteries.
Unfortunately I did not find the schematics of the circuitry but would it be possible to influence the charging stop voltage? Or would be placing a series diode before the battery help out without disturbing the charging circuitry too much?

No, the charger is MCP73831. It's only possible to change the charging current.
Also I can only 1 cell, not 2 in parallel, to be used with MBoost.
