How to start with library on ESP8266 and RFM69

Hello, I am a new user and want to use the LowPowerLab library to interface an RFM69HCW with an ESP8266.
Basically, what I want to achieve is to receive the RF transmissions of my thermometers in the house. I know there are ready made projects for that (e.g. fhem.org) but I would like to try this part on my own.
However I am already failing at the start.

How do I wire the RFM69 (on a breakout board with all exposed pins) to the ESP8266. I can't seem to find any connection diagrams?

I was just defining the RFM69 in the Gateway.ino example, set spyMode to true and was hoping for the best when connecting via default PINs (MOSI, MISO, ...) but not surprisingly nothing was received.

What is the minimum setup to just receive everything which is floating around at 868 MHz? I am not into Gateway/Node communication, I just want to receive SOMETHING at all. I have detailed info about bandwith, exact frequency and modulation but I can't see where I would specify this in the code?

Some tips to start are greatly appreciated!

Jason

Hi Daubsi,

Which ESP8266 board are you using?

Are you just wanting to see frequency and amplitude, like a spectrum analyzer? (It sounds like you don't, but just checking).

Please provide.

Thoughts:
1. See the packet structure of the RFM69 library https://lowpowerlab.com/2013/06/20/rfm69-library/
2. The RFM69 library is setup to use FSK modulation. If you are using a different modulation scheme, I don't think it is a trivial task to change it to a different scheme, though I have never tried.
3. What signal(s) are you trying to pickup and from what device(s)?

Hi....I've spent the most recent couple of weeks scouring the web for an Arduino IDE viable library that sudden spikes in demand for the ESP8266 that will permit the utilization of a RFM69 radio to get sensor information. I have tracked down a few that sound close, yet nothing that I've had the option to affirm will work without utilizing an Arduino as a go-between. I'm attempting to utilize a NodeMCU as the regulator and the RFM69HW module as the beneficiary. The end game will be to translate signals from different sensors and send them to my MQTT merchant over WiFi.

TallyFeli, the RFM69 will need to be attached to some kind of microcontroller/arduino to handle the transmission of data. If attached to an ESP board, the LowPowerLab RFM69 library can work on ESP variants with a RFM69, but most likely you might need to adjust the CS and IRQ pins, by passing those pins in the constructor, see the RFM69.h for the constructor signature.
