Did it work at all at one point? Or was this straight out of box like this?
Did you make any attempt to reprogram it?

It turned once, the screen showed 0ma but there were a lot erroneous pixels on the edge like snow. First I thought the battery was too weak, I let it charge for a while but screen won't come on any more making me concerned.

The battery is not a problem. If it turns ON then it's fine.
Was the OLED always inserted properly when the unit was turned ON?
Did you (attempt to) reprogram the firmware?
Any possible damage to the SMD side when you soldered the various headers?

I did not try to reprogram, today was the first time I had parts come all in to assemble it. Headers look normal. If you want, I can unsolder the screen. The screen never was oriented the other way.

Can't really guess what happened exactly. But since you mentioned it did once turn ON and show the "0mA" and then it went sour, something did happen that's causing it to not boot up into firmware.
To expedite fixing this unit, I will need you to return this unit to me and I will look into it and repair it. Please include the OLED you used. I would always encourage you to use a HEADER for the OLED instead of soldering the OLED directly. And use it with the OLED case (you can print your own or I can send you one that's less than perfect and cannot be sold in the store). That's because the OLEDs can actually be pretty fragile, and it's much easier to replace it in case it breaks. Also the case ensures you always insert the OLED the right way and not shift the pins in the header.

Please reach out via the contact form and I will give you details for the RMA.

The returned CR was stuck in bootloader mode. I reflashed and calibrated it and it now works. I did not try your OLED, no idea if that is in any way at fault. See email for more details.
